North Tonawanda schedules household hazardous waste drop-off day

The City of North Tonawanda will offer a household hazardous waste drop-off day for city residents from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 6 at the city public works garage, 758 Erie Ave.

However, advance appointments are required, by calling 439-7250 or through the website

The Niagara County Refuse Disposal District is providing resources for the event. In the past four years, 110,000 pounds of household chemicals have been collected at drop-off days in Niagara County.

Items that can be disposed of at the event include oil-based and latex paint, wood stains, automotive fluids, pesticides, fertilizer, driveway sealer, swimming pool chemicals and photographic chemicals.
