Driver in two-vehicle accident on Walden Avenue had to be extricated from car

The driver of a passenger car was extricated from the vehicle following an accident with a dump truck on Walden Avenue early Saturday morning, Depew Police reported.

Police were called at 7:04 a.m. to investigate the accident, which happened near the 3000 block of Walden. It resulted in the closing of Walden Avenue between Dick Road and Transit Road for most of the morning.

The Depew Fire Department, with assistance from Forks Fire Department, extricated the driver of the car, police said.

Both drivers were transported to a hospital by Lancaster Ambulance. The police dispatcher said he could not identify which hospital.

Erie County's hazardous materials department and the State Department of Environmental Conservation assisted in the cleanup.

The cause of the accident is under investigation by Depew Police.
