Community Action Organization’s plans for new day care and medical clinic are back on track.
CAO wants to build a one-story facility of about 38,352 square feet at 600 Northampton St. — which the nonprofit owns.
The proposed new building would include a Head Start early childhood facility and a primary care medical clinic.
The Buffalo Common Council is expected to approve on Tuesday CAO’s request for a special use permit so plans can move forward.
CAO decided upon the Northampton Street location after neighborhood resistance prompted the non-profit to abandon original plans to locate the structure on 563 Riley St., part of the vacant site of the former Deaconess Hospital, which CAO also owns.
The city’s Planning Board will conduct a site plan review, likely in October.
