A banner day for Oxford Pennant as it opens Main St. store

Oxford Pennant has opened its first permanent brick-and-mortar store at 731 Main St.

Until now, the company had done business online only, aside rare pop-up shop events. Started in 2013 by owners Dave Horesh and Brett Mikoll, Oxford designs and manufactures wool felt pennants, flags and banners using American-made materials. It counts Adidas, Facebook and Google among its clients.

The retail store also carries a new line of Oxford Pennant T-shirts, hoodies, mugs and socks; along with merchandise from outside brands such as Ebbets Field Flannels, Tellason and Howl + Hide.

Oxford Pennant won a $100,000 grant from Ignite Buffalo in July, where small businesses made pitches to a panel of judges about how grants would improve their operations. Facebook partnered with 43North, M&T Bank, QuickBooks, Amazon Web Services, and WooCommerce for the event.
