The Rev. James J. Maher, president of Niagara University, has been named to the NCAA Board of Governors.
“I look forward to continue working with Father Maher as he joins the Board of Governors,” NCAA President Mark Emmert said in a news release. “He’s a dedicated leader in higher education and I appreciate his commitment to academics and focus on making a difference in the lives of students. I have no doubt that he will positively inform decision-making for the Association in this new role.”
The appointment to the Board of Governors continues Maher’s work with the NCAA. He has been an active member of the NCAA Division I Board of Directors since 2016. On the Board of Governors, Maher will serve as a resource and provide oversight across all three divisions of the association. He will be one of 16 voting board members.
