Carol Zirkle has stepped down as girls basketball coach at Fredonia High School.
The longtime pilot led the Hillbillies to four Section VI championships and to the state final four in 2017.
She's stepping down "to pursue other interests," she told The News.
Zirkle likes to ski and also has nieces and nephews playing basketball she'd like to follow, along with four players she coached currently playing collegiately.
Zirkle plans to coach modified girls basketball for the district. She currently coaches girls cross country.
Mark Putney was appointed girls basketball coach Tuesday by the school district.
