Former Buffalo police headquarters closed to public

The soon-to-be-shuttered Buffalo Police headquarters at 74 Franklin St. has closed to the public, the department announced Wednesday.

As the department continues its move to the new police and fire headquarters on Court Street, anyone from the public who needs a copy of a police report may submit such requests at any of the five police districts across the city, officials said.

The new facility – the former Michael J. Dillon federal courthouse at 68 Court – will open to the public Friday. Hours of operation will be 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays.

An official "grand opening" of the new public safety headquarters is expected Nov. 1.
