Three people who showed up separately Monday at a Buffalo home to sell items they offered for sale online received payment in counterfeit cash, according to Buffalo police reports.
The fraudulent transactions happened at a house on Thornton Avenue, off Bailey Avenue just south of East Amherst Street, where the parties agreed to meet to complete the sales, according to the reports.
The sellers realized only afterwards that the money used was counterfeit. The transactions, which were all set up through the Letgo app, involved fake $50 and $20 bills, according to the reports.
In one case, the buyer handed over the cash and took off running. In another case, the victims saw the suspect walk into a house down the street.
