Ex-Williamsville man admits to stealing, crashing Lockport hospital vehicle

A former Williamsville resident pleaded guilty Monday to stealing a vehicle belonging to Eastern Niagara Hospital in Lockport June 22 and crashing it in front of a supermarket a couple of miles away.

Matthew K. Shiesley, 32, who said he had no current address, is to be sentenced by State Supreme Court Justice Richard C. Kloch Sr. Nov. 19 for fourth-degree grand larceny and misdemeanor driving while intoxicated. In the meantime, Kloch set bail at $1,000.

Niagara County Assistant District Attorney John P. Granchelli said Shiesley took the 2016 Ford Escape when it was left unattended at the hospital. In front of a Tops Market on Rochester Road in Lockport, Shiesley drove into a ditch, tried to correct his course and flattened a speed limit sign, Granchelli said.
