Buffalo State's Ronni Kordrupel (Iroquois) was named SUNYAC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week. A senior, Kordrupel broke a 22-year-old school record in the 5K with a time of 18 minutes, 39 seconds, finishing as the top Division III runner at the Roberts Wesleyan Harry F. Anderson Invitational. The previous record was 18:46 by Lynn Lambright in 1996. Kordrupel finished third among 243 runners.
Another Bengals athlete, freshman Alexis Hanson, was named SUNYAC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week after she scored three goals in victories over Oneonta and New Paltz last weekend. She leads the Bengals with four goals and nine points.
Bona runners honored
Two St. Bonaventure cross country runners were honored by the Atlantic 10 Conference as Rookies of the Week based on performances from Sept. 17-23.
Logan Caruso, a freshman, was honored after finishing 38th overall among the men in 27:23.4 in the 8K Harry Anderson Invitational in Rochester.
Theresa Dristle, another freshman, was 30th overall and helped Bona to a fourth-place team finish in the women's side of the Harry Anderson meet.
Daemen cracks X-C rankings
Led by sophomore Mike Swiniarski (Akron) who has been the team's top finisher in three races and was first among all runners to cross the line in Buffalo State's Daniel Walker Invitational, Daemen has cracked East Region Division II cross country rankings. The Wildcats are ranked 10th.
