A Lindbergh is coming to Charles A. Lindbergh Elementary School in the Town of Tonawanda on Saturday – by air, of course.
Erik Lindbergh, grandson of the famed aviator whose name graces the school, will fly in Mercy Flight's Bell 429 helicopter and land in the field next to the school, 184 Irving Terrace.
The Kenmore-Town of Tonwanda School District community and the general public are invited to attend the free event, meet Lindbergh and see the helicopter. Lindbergh is scheduled to land at 10 a.m.
Charles Lindbergh drew worldwide notice when, in 1927, he became the first person to fly alone across the Atlantic Ocean. In 2002, Erik Lindbergh retraced his grandfather's transatlantic flight in a small, single-engine plane for a journey recorded by the History Channel that raised more than $1 million for charity.
