Anderson, US volleyball to face Russia next

Third round pool play is next for Matt Anderson of West Seneca and the U.S. National team in the FIVB World Championships in Bulgaria and Italy. The scene will shift to Turin, Italy for the final pool round, semifinals and championship matches.
The U.S will face Russia on Thursday, and Brazil on Friday. Wednesday’s matches have Brazil facing Russia and Italy taking on Serbia.  Poland and Serbia will meet on Thursday and Italy and Poland on Friday. There will be two semifinal matches on Saturday and the championship and third-place match wraps up the championships on Sunday.
The U.S. was 8-0 the only undefeated team through two rounds of pool play. Italy and Olympic champion Brazil are 7-1, defending World champion Poland, Serbia and Russia are all 6-2.
