Woman's electric scooter stolen outside convenience store

NIAGARA FALLS – A 61-year-old woman told police that she exited a Buffalo Avenue convenience store just before midnight Friday to find a man stealing her electric scooter.

The victim, a 69th Street resident, told police she had driven to the 7-Eleven store around 11:45 p.m., leaving her $300 scooter in front of the store while she went inside. Upon exiting moments later, she said, she found a man atop the scooter.

She told him to get off, but he refused. As he drove off, she tried to stop him by grabbing a backpack he was wearing, but without success. He was last seen driving east on Buffalo Avenue, according to police.

The scooter thief is described as a Hispanic male, about 5-foot-8 and 175 pounds and roughly 25 years old.
