UB seeks public input on search for new police chief

Members of the University at Buffalo community are invited to share their thoughts on the search for a new police chief at public forums this week.

UB is seeking a successor to Gerald W. Schoenle Jr., who retired in January after 12 years as chief of University Police. Chris Bartolomei, assistant police chief since 2013, has replaced Schoenle on an acting basis.

The forums take place 6 to 7 p.m. Monday in the Harriman Hall ballroom, South Campus, and 4 to 5 p.m. Tuesday in 10 Capen Hall, North Campus.

Public Sector Search and Consulting, an executive search firm, is assisting the six-member search committee. UB said it wants faculty, staff, students and other university community members to share their priorities for the search.
