Running a stop sign led to a traffic stop that ended with the driver charged with carrying a loaded handgun early Sunday morning, police said.
Buffalo police report that Richard Fairweather, 42, failed to stop at a stop sign at Goodyear Avenue and Genesee Street at about 4:10 a.m.
When police stopped the vehicle and approached the suspect, officers said they smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle, and spotted some pot on the floor.
Officers detained Fairweather in their patrol car, and when police searched his vehicle, they found a loaded 0.38-caliber revolver in the center console, according to police.
Fairweather was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and unlawful possession of marijuana.
