Fleeing ATV rider arrested when vehicle stalls out

NIAGARA FALLS – Police arrested a 55-year-old man Saturday night after finding four all-terrain vehicles "racing" on streets in the city's North End, passing cars and at one point nearly causing an accident, police said.

Aaron R. Stewart, of Willow Avenue, was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, driving without a license, reckless driving, operating an ATV on a highway, driving on the sidewalk and having no headlights.

The four ATV drivers split up once spotted by police at about 8:30 p.m. Saturday, but Stewart's vehicle stalled out on La Salle Avenue, enabling police to apprehend him, police said.

Saturday was the third time in the last two months that they had stopped and towed the same ATV, police said.
