Balsavage - John Paul Of Lackawanna, New York, died September 5, 2018, at his home in the Villages at the age of 80. Born April 24, 1938, second son of Adam Balsavage and Isabel Mahoney, he was of proud hisPolish/Irish heritage as was his deceased brother, Robert and surviving sisters, Margaret Pietras and Karen Whitelaw. From his childhood home of 35 Martin Road, John attended Father Baker High, then served in the U.S. Army at Fort Benning. In 1961 John married Kathleen O'Connor, had daughters Amy and Suzy and moved to Florida, where he continued his career in refrigeration engineering as the project manager/designer of 30 tons of freezing equipment that released water from Lake Huron to Detroit. A natural athlete, John lettered in basketball, baseball and football and played tight-end for the Lackawanna Lancers. A passionate opera and Broadway lover, John belted an aria at every grandchild's birthday. Big and strong, tall and handsome, John was a gentleman. His heart was kind and generous and he will be dearly missed by many. A service will be held at Our Lady of Victory Basilica in Lackawanna, NY at 10:30 on October 6, 2018.
