Youngstown sculptor Geissler donates a new work to NCCC

Susan Geissler of Youngstown, a prominent local sculptor specializing in public art, has donated a small work for permanent display in the Child Development Center at the Niagara County Community College Learning Commons in Sanborn.

The work, "Puddle Jumper," depicts a child in a yellow rain slicker and orange galoshes jumping into a puddle.

Geissler, who graduated from NCCC in 1974, is well-known locally for the Freedom Crossing Monument in Lewiston and a piece called "The Founders" at the NCCC Culinary Institute in Niagara Falls. She has been commissioned to make a series of life-size statues of Erie Canal workers to be placed at the Lockport locks and a statue of World War II Medal of Honor winner Charles DeGlopper of Grand Island.
