Jamestown man charged with tripping child in park

Jamestown police arrested a man Saturday and accused him of tripping a child, causing the child to fall to the ground.

Tyrone K. Leichtenberger, whose age and address were not reported, was charged with second-degree harassment and endangering the welfare of a child, police said.

Police were called to 11th and Crossman streets, about two blocks from Chadakoin Park, at 6:10 p.m. Witnesses reported a man had been grabbing kids in the park, and one was allegedly tripped to the ground after the man grabbed him by the arm, police said.

Jamestown Police and State Police found Leichtenberger on a front porch on North Main Street, just south of the corner of 11th and Crossman. He was held in Jamestown city jail to await arraignment.
