The father of a 3-year-old found walking alone on Main Street in Silver Creek and wearing nothing but a jacket Saturday morning was issued an appearance ticket for failing to supervise his child, authorities said.
After being alerted of the situation, Chautauqua County Sheriff's deputies found the child and determined he had walked about two tenths of a mile from the father's Henry Street home at about 8:30 a.m. in temperatures close to 50 degrees.
Deputies went to the home of Shawn M. Wright, the 28-year-old father, and informed him that his child was found on Main Street. The father, according to deputies, said he had been sleeping and was unaware that his child had left the house.
Wright was charged with endangering the welfare of a child.
