Niagara Falls sex offender to serve up to nine years on gun charge

A sex offender from Niagara Falls, charged in a Feb. 8 gunfire case in that city, accepted a plea deal Friday in Niagara County Court.

Andre G. Williams, 28, of Ontario Avenue, admitted to second-degree criminal possession of a weapon in exchange for Judge Sara Sheldon's pledge to limit Williams' sentence to nine years in prison. Williams returns to court Dec. 14.

Williams was charged with firing a gun into a house near the corner of 18th and Niagara streets, and also damaging a parked truck. No one was injured in the shooting, which prosecutors said erupted after a verbal exchange between Williams and a resident.

Williams went on the sex offender registry after being convicted of having sex with an 11-year-old girl in 2009.
