M&T Bank says it will spend nearly $2 million to renovate four East Side branches, starting in October.
M&T will renovate locations at 999 Broadway, 1300 Jefferson Ave., 3037 Bailey Ave., and 447 William St. The projects are set to be complete by December, and the branches will remain open for business while the work is underway.
The upgrades will include new flooring, LED lighting, paint, technology and furniture. The floor plans for the Broadway, Jefferson and Bailey Avenue branches will be opened up and modernized with new teller lines, redesigned front vestibules and customer seating areas, according to the bank.
"The renovation of our hometown branches demonstrates M&T's long-term commitment to Buffalo and our customers," said David Femi, M&T's retail regional manager.
M&T awarded contracts for the work to Buffalo-based 34 Group, founded by former Buffalo Bills great Thurman Thomas, his wife, Patti, and Cheryl Green.
M&T's branch at 1300 Jefferson Ave. is just north of where Northwest Bank is building a new branch that is set to open later this year. KeyBank has also said it will open an additional East Side branch, but has not specified where.
