Commercial grade electrical service has been returned to the Central Terminal.
The announcement comes as the World Monuments Fund selected the Central Terminal as one of only two sites in the United States on its 2018 World Monuments Watch, which recognizes and supports sites facing preservation challenges. The organization is dedicated to saving the world's most treasured places.
Mayor Byron W. Brown has declared Saturday "Watch Day" in Buffalo.
The electrical project completed by Ferguson Electric returns power to the art deco building for the first time since it was decommissioned as a train station in 1979. The rehabilitation work is expected to expand event opportunities at the terminal.
The work was paid for through a $250,000 state grant secured by Assemblywoman Crystal Peoples-Stokes.
