Curran, Feroleto set to gain bipartisan backing for Supreme Court

Two veteran jurists appear headed for nomination by Democrats, Republicans and Conservatives over the next few days and guaranteed re-election to State Supreme Court this fall.

Appellate Justice John M. Curran, a Republican, and Administrative Justice Paula L. Feroleto, a Democrat, were already approved by the Conservative Party at its judicial nominating convention on Thursday, according to Erie County Conservative Chairman Ralph C. Lorigo.

Erie County Republican Chairman Nicholas A. Langworthy and his Democratic counterpart, Jeremy J. Zellner, said they expect delegates from the eight counties of the Eighth Judicial District of Western New York to nominate both judges for re-election to the two judicial slots and the 14-year terms on Monday night.

Curran and Feroleto are the only candidates to seek the posts, the chairmen said. No other minor parties are expected to nominate candidates.
