Was Kevin O'Connell trolling Channel 2 on Facebook? He says no.

Former WGRZ-TV (Channel 2) weathercaster Kevin O’Connell’s Facebook post about his new job had people wondering if he was taking a shot at his former colleagues.

In the post about becoming the new chief community connector for Catholic Health Services, O’Connell wrote, “I am thrilled to finally be working with some real professionals that will make a real difference in our community in many ways.”

Hmm. The word "finally" made it sound like O'Connell either doesn’t consider his Channel 2 colleagues “real professionals” or he worded it poorly and I (and others) misread it.

In an exchange of emails, O’Connell said I misread the meaning of it.

“The entire operation at CHS is very well organized and extremely professional and I’m glad to be part of it,” he wrote.

In a follow-up email in which I asked if I misread the post, O'Connell wrote that "yes," I misread it and he was “talking about CHS.”

Interestingly, O’Connell will be the auctioneer Friday night for a Botanical Gardens fundraiser, "Gala at the Gardens," that will have Channel 2 anchor Maryalice Demler as the emcee.
