Zona takes helm of Niagara County Democratic Party

County Legislator Jason A. Zona of Niagara Falls was elected chairman of the Niagara County Democratic Committee at its meeting Monday.

Zona, who succeeds Nicholas J. Forster as chairman, said his vice chairs will be former Lockport Alderwoman Anita Mullane and former Assemblywoman Francine DelMonte.

"I was looking for a mix of longer-tenured Democrats to mix with the heavy influx of new members wanting to get involved in races," Zona said.

"It's been something to see the enthusiasm of local Democrats the past few months, specifically the support for our 27th District congressional candidate, Nate McMurray. It was an incredible turnout at Monday's meeting and I think the poor decision of (Rep.) Chris Collins continuing his campaign has fired up local Democrats," Zona added.
