Michael McNulty of the Park Country Club in Williamsville and five other local golfers made the cut to Thursday's third and final round of the New York State Golf Association Senior Championship at the Mohawk Club in Schenectady.
McNulty, who was tied for third place, one stroke off the lead, after an even par 71 on Tuesday, shot 76 for a 147 after two rounds. That left him in a tie for sixth place.
Bob Cooper of the Schenectady Municipal Golf Club shot 2-under 69 for a 139 to keep his tournament lead. Robert Hughes of the Ives Hill Country Club in Watertown, who was tied with Hughes after the first round, fell to second place, one stroke back.
Other WNY qualifiers are: Kenneth Riter of the NYSGA eClub, tied for 10th at 72-148; John Miosi (Brookfield), tied for 16th; 74-150, Bob Rosen, Country Club of Buffalo, tied for 25th, 78-153; Danny Irwin, CCB, tied for 29th, 77-155, and John Gaffney (Brookfield), tied for 39th, 78-157.
Mark Bonner of CCB stands in a tie for fifth in the Super Seniors Division after a second round of 75 for 150. He is four strokes behind the leader Jim Hamburg of Poughkeepsie, Woody Arnold (Park) is tied for seventh with 75-151.
