McKinley High School was placed on lockdown Tuesday after a threatening note was found warning there was a gun inside the Elmwood Avenue school, according a spokeswoman for the Buffalo Public Schools.
Elena Cala, special assistant to the superintendent for public relations, said in a statement Buffalo Police were dispatched to McKinley after the note was found at about 2 p.m. School administration and staff implemented established security protocols as police conducted a sweep of the school.
No gun was found, Cala said.
McKinley students were dismissed after the school had been searched and declared safe by Buffalo Police, she said.
An investigation into who wrote the note will continue, Cala said.
School resumes Wednesday and students can expect to be electronically wanded as they enter, the new practice for all Buffalo public high schools this year, she said.
