Julian Cunningham leaves Timon-St. Jude for prep school

Julian Cunningham is on the move again, but instead of bouncing from one Monsignor Martin High School Athletic Association program to another, he is heading to prep school.

Cunningham, the second team All-Western New York selection, announced on Twitter he's leaving Bishop Timon-St. Jude to attend Orangeville Prep in Ontario. That is the same prep school team that features former Park School star Joe Jones.

Why is Cunningham, who earned third team All-Western New York two years ago at St. Francis, leaving Timon?

"For the betterment of my basketball career," Cunningham replied in a direct message.

The 6-foot-1 Cunningham would have been a senior this year but has reclassified as class of 2020, according to a roster at the school's website.

Cunningham, a first-team All-Catholic, averaged 17.8 points per game last season — an increase of 5.6 ppg from his sophomore season. He also doubled his average assists output to 5.6 per game and averaged 6.4 rebounds in helping the Tigers reach the Manhattan Cup semifinals.
