Amazon says it will hire to fill more than 400 permanent, part-time roles for additional operations in the Buffalo area.
The new jobs Amazon is hiring for are in its fulfillment operations, the company said. The employees will receive and process customer returns.
The Seattle-based company has scheduled three hiring events: 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Fairfield Inn, 4271 Genesee St. in Cheektowaga; 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 24 at the Hilton Garden Inn, 4201 Genesee St. in Cheektowaga; and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sept. 25 at the Fairfield Inn in Cheektowaga.
Candidates can walk in, apply and receive a job offer on the spot. Amazon says applicants can also apply online, at amazondelivers.jobs/warehouse-jobs/buffalo-jobs/
Amazon said the new positions would be co-located at its existing area operation, in a former supermarket warehouse on Walden Avenue in Lancaster. Amazon already has more than 300 employees at a "sortation" center, which opened last year.
Amazon says the part-time jobs it is hiring for offer "competitive wages, flexible schedules and comprehensive benefits," including life and disability insurance, dental and vision insurance with premiums paid in full by Amazon, and funding toward medical insurance.
Amazon has been on the minds of Buffalo-area economic development officials lately. The company is opening a distribution center outside Rochester.
The Buffalo Niagara region, teaming up with the Rochester area, also made a pitch for a project called HQ2, which will be a massive second headquarters.
The Buffalo-Rochester bid was not among the 20 finalists announced by Amazon in January. Amazon has not yet revealed its choice for HQ2.
