Westfield man arrested for selling assault rifle to undercover officer

A Westfield man was arrested Monday on after allegedly selling an AR-15-style assault rifle to an undercover officer of the Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force, according to the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said David M. Marracino, 57, sold the assault rifle, three high-capacity magazines and steel-jacketed ammunition to an undercover officer at approximately 2 p.m. Monday at 3503 Old Bridge Road in Stow, leading to charges of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon and second-degree criminal sale of a weapon.

When Marracino was taken into custody, he was in possession of marijuana; he was also charged with unlawful possession of the drug, according to the Sheriff's Office.

He was remanded to the Chautauqua County Jail on bail pending further action of the court.

The Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force is comprised of investigators from the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office and the City of Dunkirk Police Department. Suspicious or narcotics-related activity can be reported via (800) 344-8702 or 363-0313.
