STONER, Robert

STONER - Robert Passed away on September 16, 2018, at age 92. Bob was an accomplished businessman and dedicated member of the community. After a 20 year corporate career, he bought and ran his own polyurethane manufacturing business in Buffalo, New York. He was active in the Presbyterian Church, and dedicated many hours to Habitat for Humanity. He enjoyed woodworking and skiing, but his lifelong passion was sailing. He captained multiple trips from Buffalo to South Florida and back. Bob was born March 17, 1926 in Scranton, Pennsylvania to Roy Stoner and Emily Smith Stoner. His father passed away when he was just 14 years old. Bob served as an Officer in the Navy on a mine sweeper at the end of World War II. He graduated from University of Pennsylvania with a degree in mechanical engineering, and earned an MBA from Loyola University while working in Chicago. Mr. Stoner met his wife, Gay Dunbar, at a church event in Pittsburgh and they married on May 14, 1955. His beloved wife of 59 years passed away October 22, 2014. Robert is survived by daughters Susan Brown (Frank), Sandra Van Wormer (Philip), and Sally Reandeau (David); grandchildren Christopher Brown (Bernadette), Sarah Wester (Shay), Emily and Andrew Van Wormer; and two great-grandsons. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Habitat for Humanity of Buffalo (1675 South Park Ave., Buffalo, New York 14220) or South Palm Beach County (181 SE 5th Ave., Delray Beach, Florida 33483). A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
