Colleges: UB's Kelly gets MAC soccer honor

Freshman goalkeeper Emily Kelly of the University at Buffalo was named Mid-American Conference Defensive Player of the Week in women’s soccer. It was the second time Kelly has been named for the honor this season and the third week a UB player has been honored.

Kelly (Wilson) earned her sixth straight win with a pair of saves in the second half to secure a 3-1 victory over St. Bonaventure.

For the second time this season, UB sophomore Caleb Covell has earned MAC Runner of the Week honors after he finished first for the Bulls in the UB Buffalo Stampede 8K Invitational last Friday. UB finished second to Cornell.

D'Youville's Wittig is AMCC netter of the week

Senior Gillian Wittig (Depew) of the D’Youville women’s tennis team was named Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Player of the Week after she won both her matches at No. 2 singles and both doubles matches with freshman Lauren Karoglan (Orchard Park) against Medaille and Pitt-Bradford.

Daemen men fall in soccer

Lock Haven University (Pa.) scored three unanswered goals in the second half and handed Daemen a 3-1 loss in men’s soccer, ending the Wildcats’ two-game win streak. Anthony Cupello scored the Daemen goal, his second of the season before the rally by the Bald Eagles.
