Man runs over officer's leg with dirt bike during reckless Riverside drive

A Buffalo man was arrested Saturday evening on several charges after a reckless dirt-bike ride through Riverside that included running over an officer's leg, Buffalo Police say.

Kevin Martinez-Mendez, 23, was seen riding a dirt bike at a high rate of speed near the intersection of Rosedale Street and Roesch Avenue at about 7:20 p.m. Officers say he failed to stop at several stop signs intersecting Roesch Avenue.

When officers attempted to pull over the dirt bike, Martinez-Mendez revved the engine and ran over an officer's leg and into the open patrol vehicle door, police say.

He was charged with second-degree assault, third-degree criminal mischief, reckless driving and several traffic violations.
