University at Buffalo wide receiver K.J. Osborn is the Mid-American Conference East Division Offensive Player of the Week after he caught seven passes for 188 yards and three touchdowns inthe Bulls' 353-28 win over Eastern Michigan.
Osborn had touchdown receptions for 8, 70 and 75 yards in UB's third straight victory. He leads the Bulls with 16 receptions for 300 yards and five touchdowns and is tied for third in the nation in touchdown catches.
It was the third straight week honor has gone to a UB player. Quarterback Tyreek Jackson won the first two weeks for UB which will play at Rutgers on Saturday.
Also Monday, it was announced that UB's home game against Army has been selected by the CBS Sports Network for showing nationally on Sept. 29 from UB Stadium. Kickoff will be at noon.
ECC honor for Daemen's Boyar
Junior forward Jamie Boyar (Williamsville South) of Daemen College was named East Coast Conference offensive Player of the Week in women's soccer after she scored all three goals including the winner in overtime in Saturday's 3-2 ECC win over Molloy at Karrer Field in Amherst.
Boyar totaled four goals over two games last week, both home victories for Daemen (3-3, 1-1 ECC).
She opened the week by netting Daemen's first goal in a 2-0 non-conference victory over Shepherd. The hat trick against Molloy was the first for Boyar at Daemen and gave her seven goals and 15 points and three game-winning goals, all of which lead the conference.
In men's soccer, freshman goalkeeper of Daemen was named ECC Rookie of the Week in men's soccer. Schmidt had 11 saves total in wins over Gannon and Molloy. Schmidt is from Lahr, Germany.
