Award-winning Polish-American historian James Pula, a professor at Purdue University Northwest, will be the keynote speaker Saturday as Daemen College hosts a daylong symposium on Polonia and Polish independence.
Pula’s presentation, “The Fourth Partition and the Restoration of Polish Independence,” will be held at 7 p.m. in the Wick Campus Center Social Room. A performance by the Chopin Singing Society will follow. It's free and open to the public.
The symposium's panel discussions, which will explore relations between Polish communities in America and the Polish homeland, will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Room 120 of Daemen’s Research and Information Commons. Co-sponsors include the permanent chair of Polish culture at Canisius College, the Polish Arts Club of Buffalo and the Polish Cultural Institute New York.
