Man scoping out potential business locations is attacked, robbed in Falls

NIAGARA FALLS – A 48-year-old city man told police he was attacked and robbed Saturday afternoon while walking the troubled 19th Street corridor scouting potential locations for a new barber shop.

Police said  the victim was walking in the 600 block of 19th Street at about 2 p.m. when he was confronted by a man who argued with him about "being on the block." The man then motioned to a nearby group of five shirtless men, who attacked the victim. He was knocked to the ground and punched and kicked repeatedly.

One of the assailants stole the victim's $100 watch before the group fled. The victim walked to Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, where he was treated for minor injuries.

Police said the attackers were described as between 15 and 24 years of age.
