Sisters of Mercy charity awards more than $16,000 in grants to 10 groups

The Sisters of Mercy Many Faces of Mercy Giving Circle Thursday celebrated its 15th anniversary by awarding 10 grants totaling $16,619 to nonprofit groups during a ceremony at Mercy Center, 625 Abbott Road.

Grants were awarded to EPIC, Buffalo Peace House, Buffalo Prenatal-Perinatal Network and Harvest House.

Also receiving grants were Women's Respite Program of Francis Center, Lockport Cares, Journey's End Refugee Services, Peace of the City Ministries, Teaching and Restoring Youth and the Salvation Army's Offsite Visitation Program.

The Many Faces of Mercy Giving Circle is a philanthropic group sponsored by the Sisters of Mercy. The charity has distributed nearly $300,000 in grants over the past 16 years, according to organizers.

Women interested in joining the Giving Circle may call the Sisters of Mercy Development Office at 716-821-1648. Applications for 2019 will become available in January.
