Affidavit and absentee votes in two Lackawanna elections will not be counted until later next week, said Derek Murphy, communications director for the Erie County Board of Elections.
In question are the Democratic and Conservative contests in the City Council race for Lackawanna’s First Ward.
Three candidates vied for the Democratic nod. Community advocate John Ingram won the race by 23 votes over current Councilman Abdulsalam K. Noman. Naef A. Al-Hajjaji received eight votes.
In the Conservative contest, Ali M. Saleh received 26 votes with write-in candidate Daniel Koziol winning 20.
Affidavit ballots are available at the polling sites and allow you to vote if your name was not included on the voter registry. They are counted upon verification of the voter’s registration.
