WIVB-TV (Channel 4) has gone in-house to find its new morning co-anchor, naming Dave Greber to join Melanie Orlins on “Wake Up!”
Greber starts his new role Monday. He replaces Jordan Williams, who left the CBS affiliate after the end of July sweeps to become an assistant news director at a station in his hometown of Beaumont, Texas.
Greber joined Channel 4 more than three years ago and most recently was the co-anchor of Channel 4’s newscast at 4 p.m. and the 6:30 p.m. newscast on sister station WNLO-TV.
In an email to the staff announcing the move, Channel 4 News Director Lisa Polster praised Greber’s work on the 4 and 6:30 p.m. newscasts alongside co-anchor Christy Kern.
“His storytelling skills, community connections and sunny personality will be an asset to our team,” she wrote. “We still expect Dave to break news and bring home the big interviews.”
The announcement came in the same week of Greber’s heavily promoted interview with Chris Collins that dealt with the congressman’s recent federal indictment for insider trading.
There is no immediate word about whether Channel 4 plans to replace Greber on the previous newscasts that he co-anchored. Kern anchored solo at 4 p.m. before Greber joined her.
