One of the little-known luxuries that we have in South Buffalo is the Farmers Market at Bailey Avenue and Clinton Street. It has been there for many years. If you go there, you will see and hear many different languages and nationalities.
It is true Americana. A mixing pot of people from all over the world living and getting along in the business of buying and selling a product necessary for life – mostly food.
It is true competition in that there are commercial sellers and there are farmers from the area. The prices vary depending on the freshness and availability of what they sell. Around Christmastime the place was jammed with fresh-cut trees for the Christmas holiday. Then as spring approaches, you will find a variety of flowers, some in pots and others flat for transplanting in your yard or cemetery. There are tulips, geraniums, marigolds, daisies, pansies, firecrackers and many more. You’ll also find corn, beets, pickles, potatoes, tomatoes, onions, peppers, squash and many more fruits and vegetables.
Try it. You’ll like it.
