Letter: It is long past time to focus on improving the Statler

After recently seeing The Buffalo News photo spread tour of the new and opulent Curtiss Hotel, and reading about the eight years of development planning and $24 million budget pulled together by owner Mark Croce, I have to wonder when he might redirect his attention back to his Statler City building, which could use some real help with curb appeal these days.

I can well appreciate that much has been done to some of the interior spaces, but having a building that size next to City Hall, with the whole ground floor having dirty empty windows with still

tenants after all these years? This looks like a derelict building most of the time. What are we still waiting for? How many years has this project been in the planning stages?

Perhaps now that his new luxury hotel is complete, Croce can impress us soon with some major exterior building embellishments and curb appeal/streetscape improvements to his earlier Statler project, located in the heart of Buffalo. It’s about time, one would think.
