The slide into the offseason continued for the Buffalo Bisons as the Herd dropped their eighth straight game Friday night.
The Bisons lost to the Syracuse Chiefs, 7-4, at NBT Stadium.
The Bisons jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning thanks to back-to-back RBI doubles from Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Anthony Alford.
That lead lasted until the bottom of the first when Syracuse tied the game. The Chiefs then took a 6-2 lead thanks to a four-run third inning. Yadiel Hernandez had a two-run doubles and Bengie Gonzalez had a two-run single.
Syracuse made it 7-2 when Gonzalez hit his third homer with the Chiefs.
Buffalo put two more runs on the board in the eighth when Richard Ureña blasted his fifth homer of the season, scoring Rowdy Tellez.
Point of interest: Brandon Crumpton, the Bisons Comeback Player of the Year, took his fifth loss. Crumpton gave up seven runs on nine hits in six innings. He struck out two and walked three.
Noteworthy: Of the Bisons nine hits, six were for extra bases. ... Urena went 3 for 4 with a double and a home run. ... Alford had two hits. ... Darnell Sweeney had his fourth triple of the season. ... Guerrero Jr. finished 1 for 4 dipping his batting average to .330.
Up next: The Bisons continue their final series of the 2019 season in Syracuse at 7:05 p.m. Saturday (Radio 550) with righty Zach Stewart (2-0, 4.15) scheduled to start for the Herd. Righty Jacob Waguespack (5-8, 5.34) will start for the Bisons on Sunday (7:05 p.m., Radio 1520). The season ends at 1:05 p.m. Monday (Radio 1520) with lefty Shawn Morimando (2-5, 6.34) set to start for the Bisons.
