Niagara Falls teen charged with gun possession

A 19-year-old from Niagara Falls was charged Tuesday night with gun possession after reports of gunfire near 17th Street and La Salle Avenue, according to a police report.

Felipe Rodriguez, of LaSalle Avenue, was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a weapon after Falls police pulled over a vehicle near 15th Street and Pierce Avenue around 11 p.m.

Rodriguez, a passenger in a vehicle driven by a Youngstown man, stepped out of the vehicle at the request of officers. When he did, a handgun fell out of his waistband. The gun was reported stolen out of Florida, according to the report.

The neighborhood has recently seen several instances of gunfire. On Aug. 21, someone fired a gun at another person in an alley near 18th Street, between Pierce and Willow Avenue. On Aug. 23, shots were fired at a person in front of a grocery store near Pierce and 17th Street.
