Man pleads guilty to hit-and-run that injured man in motorized wheelchair

A North Tonawanda man has pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of an accident in which he struck a man in a motorized wheelchair, prosecutors said Thursday.

Mark Hicks, 34, pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of a serious physical injury accident without reporting, a class E felony, the Erie County District Attorney's Office said.

Hicks was charged earlier this month in the the hit-and-run that took place Feb. 16 on Vulcan Street in the Town of Tonawanda. Kevin K. Sheridan, of Riverside, suffered critical head and chest injuries and spent several weeks in Erie County Medical Center.

Hicks, who remains in custody on $10,000 cash bail or $25,000 bond, faces a maximum of four years in prison. His sentencing is scheduled for Oct. 11.
