A tribute to Aretha Franklin will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Sept. 8 in the Frank E. Merriweather Jr. Library, 1324 Jefferson Ave.
The local program will include music, poetry and dance to celebrate the life and legacy of the “Queen of Soul,” who spent part of her childhood in Buffalo. There also will be film clips from her performances on the TV show "Soul Train" and in the movie "The Blues Brothers."
Franklin died Aug. 16 in her Detroit home at age 76.
