Wanda M. Corsaro, 82, operated beauty salons in Niagara Falls and Lewiston

Wanda M. Corsaro, of Lewiston, a retired beauty salon owner, died last Saturday under hospice care. She was 82.

Born in Niagara Falls, the daughter of a beautician, the former Wanda Matyjas was a graduate of Niagara Falls High School.

She joined her mother, Helen Matyjas, as a proprietor of fashionable beauty salons, notably Leonard’s on Highland Avenue in Niagara Falls and Leonard’s of Lewiston, which she operated for more than 30 years.

Mrs. Corsaro was active in the Lewiston Service Guild, was a board member of the Lewiston Council of the Arts and attended St. Peter’s Catholic Church.

She was a supporter of Artpark, Sacred Heart Villa, the American Lung Association, St. Mary’s Hospital and Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center.

She also was predeceased by her first husband, Robert Menichetti.

She was remarried in 1974 to a high school boyfriend, Joseph C. Corsaro, an electrician with DuPont, who died in 1989.

Survivors include two daughters, Tina Menichetti Tusa and Kyle Menichetti Krogh; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, in St. Peter’s Church, 620 Center St., Lewiston.
