Live coverage: Cuomo vs. Nixon debate

Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo and challenger Cynthia Nixon will debate at 5 p.m. today on Long Island in their only one-on-one contest before the Sept. 13 Democratic primary election.

You can follow live coverage of the debate below through tweets from reporters from across New York who will be watching the taping at Hofstra University.

The 60-minute debate will be broadcast at 7 p.m. on CBS affiliates across the state.

Cuomo has done his best to ignore Nixon, the former "Sex and the City" actress making her first run for public office, while heaping criticisms on President Trump as he campaigns for a third term as governor.

Nixon, who is behind in polls by as much as 30 percentage points, has sought to tie Cuomo to the state's public corruption problem with convictions of his former top aide Joseph Percoco and Alain Kaloyeros, the former SUNY Polytechnic Institute president who was the architect of Cuomo's Buffalo Billion program and his other upstate economic development initiatives.
