Jamestown man charged with possession of child pornography

A Jamestown man is being held without bail after he appeared Wednesday before U.S. Magistrate Judge H. Kenneth Schroeder on a charge of possession of child pornography, U.S. Attorney James P. Kennedy Jr. announced.

Matthew Bailer, 33, was arrested after a parent complained July 11 to Jamestown Police that he may have been sexually abusing her two minor children. The parent also told police that Bailer's sister told her that she had found a series of pictures of a sexual nature on Bailer's cellphone.

Investigators who searched his cellphone said they found several hundred pornographic images of boys and girls. If convicted, Bailer faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
