One of former Buffalo Sabres General Manager Darcy Regier's draft picks has been signed by the Rochester Amerks to an AHL contract for the 2018-19 season.
Forward Judd Peterson, a co-captain last season at St. Cloud State University, will join the Amerks on a one-year deal after playing two games for Rochester on a tryout offer in April.
Peterson, 24, was a seventh-round pick of the Sabres at the 2012 draft in Pittsburgh, taken 204th overall. He never signed a pro contract with Buffalo, instead playing two years with Cedar Rapids of the USHL and four years at St. Cloud. His best collegiate season was in 2015-16, when he had 16 goals and 23 points as a sophomore.
Peterson had six goals and 12 assists in 40 games last year, helping his team to a No. 1 ranking in the regular season and a berth in the NCAA Tournament before making his brief appearance in Rochester. He had no points in the AHL. He is the 14th player to sign an AHL contract with Rochester.
